Iran to show no further restraint if US keeps violating JCPOA

TEHRAN, Apr. 24 (MNA) – The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani has said Iran will show no restraint if the US further delays approving the nuclear deal or keeps violating it.

“International treaties are signed for stability, and the parties commit themselves to take simultaneous actions,” Aki Shamkhani told reporters in a press conference in Tehran today before leaving Tehran for Russia’s Sochi to participate and deliver a speech at the 9th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues scheduled for 25-26 April, 2018.

He added “unfortunately, since the JCPOA came into force, there have been violations of it in different forms, but the situation got worse when Trump came to power.”

“In the NPT, the member states can easily withdraw from their obligations if their interests are not secured,” Iran’s top security official said, adding “that option is one of the options available for Iran.”

In response to a question if the US withdraws from the deal, Shamkhani said “we are ready for any scenarios. Trump’s inner circle think he is unpredictable. Anyway, if he either quits or does not fulfill US obligations, or further delays this adhesive agreement, it means the JCPOA has collapsed,” adding that in that situation “it is not in Iran’s interests to further show restraint.”

Regarding his unexpected meeting with Vladimir Putin’s special envoy following the Israeli regime’s attack on the Syrian T-4 air base, the Iranian top security official said that Iran cannot ignore the recent worrisome destabilizing actions of US and Israeli regime as well as their allies, adding that Iran will definitely punish the aggressors when the time arrives.

Shamkhani concluded the Zionist regime must know that ‘hit and run’ policy is not working anymore, warning that there will be a price to pay.

He once again reiterated that Iran’s military advisors’ presence in Syria is at the request of the Syrian legitimate government.
